The Tombac is a Alliage of Cuivre and Zinc. This alloy is used in Russia to make medals (“bronze” the medals of the Olympic Games of 1980 were in fact of the medals of Tombac). During the Second world war, the same alloy was used to strike the Canadian nickels .
Tombac is a formed alloy of 90% of copper and zinc 10%. It is also used in the manufacture of projectiles to the factory of machine tool of Barnaul with Zavod in Russia. Tombac is enclosed during heating in steel in order to produce a bi-metallic projectile, giving him the appearance of a copper sheath but force of steel.
