Tomasi Kulimoetoke II (born the July 26th 1918 and dead the May 7th 2007), was king (" Lavelua") islands Wallis of the March 12th 1959 until its death.
It takes part in the negotiations on the territorial statute of Wallis-and-Futuna in 1961.
It is named Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1967, and is promoted Commandeur of the national order of the Merit in 1998.
In 2005, the old king is taken in a political crisis which threatens to plunge its insular kingdom in the Chaos. This crisis within the traditional authorities opposes its close relations to the camp known as of the " rénovateurs" , in favor of an evolution of the habit. At the end of September 2005, the conflict degenerates brutally when several hundreds of partisans of Lavelua, whose former servicemen armed with rifles, machetes and sticks of dynamite, organize the blockade of the island. They want to prevent the arrival of reinforcements of gendarmerie, for the establishment of a dissenting king, under consideration by the renovating ones. The threat required the arbitration of Paris which had to dispatch a mediator on the spot. " To avoid overflowings of sang" , this mediator has " confirmed the recognition by the State of Lavelua". Tomasi Kulimoetoke was farmer and father of six children. It is deceased on May 7th, 2007 at the 88 years age.
