Tom Stoppard , playwright British, was born “Tom Straussler” the July 3rd 1937 with Zlín in Czechoslovakia. Its family emigrates initially with Singapore (March 15th, 1939 at the time of the invasion of the country) to escape persecutions Nazis against the Juif S, then in India where it takes the name of the second husband of its mother “Stoppard”. It begins in 1954 as journalist, writes his first part in 1960, “Enter has Free Man”, the first with being gone up is “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead” ( Rosencrantz and Guildenstern died from which it will draw itself a film in 1990).

Tom Stoppard also wrote many radiophonic parts, adaptations for television and of the scenarios, whose famous “Brazil” (nominated with the Oscars) and “Shakespeare in Coils” (Oscar of the best film and the better scenario) for which it also received “Academy Awards”. He also translated and adapted parts of Sławomir Mrożek, Arthur Schnitzler, Federico Garcia Lorca and Václav Havel. He became member of the Outrapo and was anobli by Elisabeth II in 1997.

He is in addition realizer of only one film to date: Rosencrantz & Guildenstern died ( Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead ) (according to its part), left in 1990 (film which gained the Lion of gold to the Mostra of Venice).
