Tom Dolan , born the September 16th 1974 with Arlington in Virginia, is old a American swimmer . Specialist in the tests of 4 strokes, he is Olympic double champion on 400 m 4 strokes in 1996 and 2000 like double champion of the world of the discipline in 1994 and 1998.
He gains the championship of the world of the 400 m 4 strokes at the time of the Mondiaux 1994 with Rome. In 4 ' 12" 30 and preceding one second the Finn Jani Sievinen, it beats the world records established in 1991 by the Hungarian Tamás Darnyi. Logical favorite at the distance, it gains the Olympic title with Atlanta in 1996 in front of its compatriot Eric Namesnik. Once again world champion in 1998 with Perth on 400 m 4 strokes, it also preserves his Olympic title in 2000 at Sydney by establishing a new world mark. He also finishes second on the test of the 200 m 4 strokes only preceded by the Italian Massimiliano Rosolino. He is named with the International Swimming Hall off Famed in 2006 but its world records on 400 m 4 strokes were beaten in 2002 by its compatriot Michael Phelps.
