Tolui or Tului (Mongolian Tuluï , of tol' : mirror), fourth and the last wire of Genghis Khan and its principal wife Börte, born in 1194. He died in 1232, therefore before its third brother, Ögödei, supreme second Khan of the Mongolian of 1227 with 1241, but its widow Sorgaqtani contributed to make elect in 1251 their son Mongka like fourth supreme Khan.

Wives and descent

Of its principal wife Sorgaqtani, girl of Jaqa Gambu, brother of Toghrul, Ong Khan of Kerait; it had:
  • Möngke (first wire)
  • Khubilaï, (fourth wire) brother of Mongka and owner of Marco Polo, fifth and last khan supreme of 1260 with 1294 and emperor of China, where it founded the dynasty of the Yuan in 1279.
  • Hülegü, (fifth wire), which took Baghdad in 1258 and reversed the dynasty of the Abbassides, founded in 1256 the dynasty of the Ilkhans (“regional princes”) of Perse.
  • Ariq Boqa (sixth wire)
  • Dümügan Princess, married to Nakudai, wire of Jingue, Ongüt chief, and of Alaqai Beki, girl of Gengis Khan

De Saruq Khatun, Tolui had a son:

  • Jörike (second wire), + young person

De Lingqun Khatun, girl of Küshlüg Khan (remariée in Malik Timur, wire of Ariq Bokë, wire of Tolui), Tolui had:

  • Qutuqtu (third wire)
  • Princess Island Timur, married to Pars Buqa, wire of Törölchi, Oirat chief, and of Checheyigen, wire of Gengis Khan

Of another woman, Tolui had: Yesubuha princess, married in 1238 with Wochen, Onggirat chief, wire of Anchen (he even brother of Börte)

The Khanat de Djaghataï, field of the descendants of Djaghataï, second wire of Gengis Khan and Börte, which covered the Central Asia in the broad sense, was thus framed by the fields of the Ilkhans in the West and the Yuan in the East, two downward branches of Tolui.
