Tokimasa Hōjō
Tokimasa Hōjō (北條時政,) (1138 - 1215) was a Samurai, which was one of the chiefs of the Clan Hōjō and was the first Shikken (regent) of the Shogunat de Kamakura of 1199 with 1205.
Biography
One knows few things of the youth of Tokimasa. In 1177, his/her Masako daughter marries Minamoto No Yoritomo, and when the Guerre of Gempei bursts in 1180, and although as a member of the Hōjō clan it was vassal Taira, it joint with his/her son-in-law to answer the call to the weapons of the prince Mochihito and Minamoto No Yorimasa.After the end of the war in 1185, Yoritomo establishes the Bakufu with Kamakura and Tokimasa is named Kyōto-kanrei , governor of Kyōto. After the death of Yoritomo in 1199, it plots with his/her daughter to remove the capacity with new the Shogun Minamoto No Yoriie (its own grandson) and to establish the regency, which it allots in 1203. In front of the notorious incompetence of Yoriie, it makes it assassinate and installs the brother of this one, Minamoto No Sanetomo, like shogun.
Later, he plots with his second wife Omaki No Kata to replace Sanetomo by his son-in-law Tomomasa Hiraga, but his/her Masako daughter and her son Yoshitoki oblige it to exile themselves. It is withdrawn then in the Province of Izu and becomes Buddhist monk , while Yoshitoki becomes regent in his place.
