Toki IO
Toki IO is an artificial language which has only 110 words.
These 110 words are the possible combinations of the two vowels I and O , and of the four consonants K , N , T and Z , for words of to the maximum two syllables, knowing that a syllable will have to the maximum only two letters:
- either a vowel,
- or in the order: consonant-vowel,
the toki io will not be able thus to have more than 110 simple terms.
The words are accentuated on the first syllable. It is important to mark the tonic accent well to differentiate for example: Zo zo of Ninny .
The numerical system
I represents figure 1 and O represents figure 0. As the mathematical system is in base 2, IO wants to thus say 2. Three says II .
Writing : the numbers are an indicating alignment of figures of the powers of 2.
To facilitate the reading and the pronunciation, an apostrophe separates the figures from two into two starting from the left. This apostrophe corresponds to an installation of the voice, something like a musical sigh, but does not have a particular mathematical value. It is only about one facility (quite useful moreover).
example: io' oi' ii' oi' I which one immediately sees with I final that it is about an odd number.
If one reads from right to left (!) one can all in all break up this number of powers of 2
(1x1) + (1x2) + (0x4) + (1x8) + (1x16) + (1x32) + (0x64) + (0x128) + (1x256) = 317
Practical : the double of 317 will be obtained by adding an O with the right-hand side of the number
io' oi' ii' oi' I
io'oi'ii'oi'io
and half of io' oi' ii' oi' io' I (odd number) will be: io' oi' ii' oi' io, I
The fractional numbers : One can use a comma (or a point like English) for to express a fractional number. IO' O, IO' II
Pronunciation : the numbers are read in litany, by words of two digits starting from the left, by marking a light installation between two pairs of figures. Each pair is accentuated like one word, always the first syllable of the mot.
example: ten = io' io ; quinze= ii' I ; sixty = ii' ii' oo ; trois-mille-deux-cent-cinquante-quatre = ii' oo' io' io' oi' io
Related language
Toki IO is a language inspired by the toki pona , from which it borrows the idea of final limitation of the number of words as well as a big part of grammar. However it is different from it by some rules aiming at a highher degree of accuracy on certain points, and especially by its system of figures and numbers, which authorizes all the operations on all the sizes of numbers with only two digits, as well as the oral expression of the numbers in all the bases.
