The Tocantins is one of the States Brésil. It was created in 1988 with depend on the northern part of the Goiás. Construction from a new capital, Palmas, began in 1989, even if several cities of the State dating from the time of Portuguese colonization could have claimed for this reason.

Indeed only one turbine out of the five that the stopping comprises is enough to feed in electricity the entire State, the balance being sold in the other States of Brazil.
With the image of its very new capital Palmas, the population of the State is in rapid growth. Whereas it was only of: 1157098 inhabitants in 2000, it was assembled already to: 1305728 in 2005.
