Tobrouk
Tobrouk is a port of the Libyan coast, it is the only deep water port between the Egypt and the Tunisia. With the beginning of the Second world war, it has a factory of water purification. For these two reasons, it is strategic for the Italy and the the United Kingdom which have a common border there. Indeed the Libya is an Italian colony and the Egypt a British protectorate. Following the declaration of war by the Italy against the the United Kingdom, the skirmishes start since 1940. The allied troops (Australian, British) seize Tobrouk on January 12th, 1941. The Afrika Korps starts the seat of it on April 11th, 1941, this one lasts until November 26th, 1941, a brigade of Polish infantry helps the British then. The city is taken by the Germans on June 21st, 1942, and is definitively released in November 1942.
