To lock Maj
On the data-processing keyboards, To lock Maj or Verr Maj is the key located just at the top of the Touche maj which makes it possible to block the keyboard in capital mode. It is a key particular, present on the majority of the keyboards, being able to be in an activated or decontaminated state. It is of this fact not easily usable at other end.
Unlocking is done while pressing again on the key Verrouiller Maj , or while supporting once on the maj touches according to the configuration of the keyboard.
Its effect is sometimes erratic according to the OS employed. Thus so with Mac or Linux to type verr maj then with will give the To (idem for C , ù , E and E ), on a PC under Windows, one will obtain the figure 0 . In addition, always under Windows, to type Verr Maj , then the key comma (, ) will give a Question mark (? ).
It is thus very difficult in this last configuration, to type a sentence such as “YESTERDAY, the BOYS WENT TO the SEA” by using Verr Maj (what would give “YESTERDAY? LESGAR9ONS ARE ALES THE 0 SEA”). However, these problems are not present on all the computers, and the majority of time the combinations of keys answer correctly, as on Linux or Macintosh.
