To clarify the public debate on safety

The group CLARIS is an association 1901 which publicly intervenes in order to “ clarify the Public debate on the Sécurité ”.

Laurent Mucchielli and some researchers, teachers and welfare workers initiated at at the end of 2001 group CLARIS with the will posted to intervene in the presidential campaign of 2002 from which all announced that one of its important topics was going to be the aforementioned “ insecurity ” . For this group, it was a question above all “of clarifying the public debate on safety”.

History of the actions

Their first action of scale was to publish, at the end of January 2002, an invitation to be reflected on the reasons of the transgressions of the young people, this in a proclamation published in the Libération newspaper.

Four years after the publication of their proclamation founder, the researchers (sociologists, lawyers, historians…) Claris network start again their news bulletin. “Will the electoral campaign 2006-2007 resemble that of 2001-2002? Or will it be worse? One can fear it today”, notes in his leading article Laurent Mucchielli, editor association of the bulletin of Claris and researcher to CNRS. CLARIS diffuses free its news bulletin by the electronic way, the inscription being available on its Internet site.

The members of CLARIS answer the requests which are made to them to carry out public meetings on the initiative of associations or professionals of the field. Lastly, on the site of Claris, one finds many texts, analyzes and point of view on the determinants of the juvenile delinquency and the consequences of the insecurity.
