Tlaxcala

Tlaxcala de Xicohténcatl is the capital of the State de Tlaxcala with the Mexico. The inhabitants of this city, the Tlaxcaltèques, at the time of the prehispanic period, fought savagely the Mexicas in wars without end having for goal to alleviate the assoifés gods of blood by many sacrifices: it is the “xochiyaoyotl”, which in Nahuatl means the “flowered war”. When the Spanish arrived at the Mexico, led by the conquistador Hernán the Cortes, they had to face Tlaxcaltèques which had pushed back their request for alliance. Whereas the small troop of European soldiers were about to lose, largely exceeded of number by of Indians, the latter decided to be combined to the Spaniards with an aim of overcoming the Aztec empire.
