Tizimín is a small town in the North-East of the state of the Yucatán to the Mexico. The city is located at the Northern 21.13°, Western 88.15°, to 160 km in the east of Mérida, to 200 km in the west of Cancún and to 42 km in the south of Río Lagartos, the traditional seaport of the city on the Gulf of Mexico. In 2004, the population of Tizimín is estimated at 40.000 inhabitants.
The word “Tizimin” means “Maya Tapir” in . With the Spanish conquest of Yucatan, a Spanish colonial city is created in Tizimín in 1544.
Tizimín is known for its festival in the honor of the Magi at the end of December, at the beginning of January.
