In the Greek Mythology, Tityos (in Greek old Τιτυός / Tituós ) is a Géant, wire of Zeus and Élara (girl of Orchomène), and father of Europe.

To protect it from the jealousy of Héra, Zeus hides Élara under the ground, where it is confined. For this reason, Tityos is sometimes regarded as a son of Gaïa.

At the instigation of Héra, which ends up discovering it, he wants to make violence with Léto. But it is prevented by it by Apollon and Artémis, which sifts it arrows. According to other versions, it is struck by the lightning of Zeus. It is then condemned to have the liver eternally corroded by two vultures in the Tartar . (This torment is to be brought closer to that which Prométhée undergoes.)
