the Madness Titon , is a manufacture of wallpapers, held by Jean-Baptiste Réveillon, and located in old the Faubourg Saint-Anthony, where the first montgolfier took off, and where the riots of Paris started which brought to the French revolution.

Use

The Titon Madness, built in 1673 by Maximilien Titon, director of royal manufactures of weapons like country house.

In 1765, Réveillon installs the royal wallpaper manufacture there, after having repurchased a part of it.

First manned flight

The October 19th 1783, this building enters the history of humanity, when, the first Aéronef inhabited, a aerostatic Ballon in captive Vol, that one will name Montgolfière later takes off there, with on its board, the physicist Pilâtre de Rozier, Giroud of the Villette and Réveillon itself. This balloon was built in manufacture, by Réveillon, Joseph-Michel and Jacques-Etienne Montgolfier.

French revolution

In April 1789, it made there work more than 300 employees, at the time of “  the Business Midnight supper   ” or “  Réveillon  riot; ”. This riot, due to a law created by Midnight supper generating an increase in the taxes on the workmen, and which will last 3 days in Paris, will be one of the first steps of the French revolution. They are many employees of manufactures and workshops of the Holy Suburb Antoine, of which this Madness formed part, which took the Bastille the July 14th 1789.

It is completely demolished in 1880.
