Tircis

The Tircis ( Pararge aegeria Linné) is a European Insecte Lépidoptère S, Nymphalidae. One meets it on all the continent of Europe except for extreme north.

Biotope

One meets this species in the clearings, the skirts of forest, the hedges, the bushes.

Description of the caterpillar

Maximum length: 27 Misters. Yellowish green body, a band médio-dorsal dark green finely bordered of white skirts all the body. Sides with a longitudinal line blanchâtre.

Anal end provided with two white points.

The head, nonangular, is of a bluish green.

Habitat

He lives in wood, the raised edges and city parks, until 1500  Mr. the butterfly is held on the ground, on the low plants or the sheets of trees in the sun spots of the clearings, along the forest roads and of the edges.

Its distribution:

  • Madeira, the Maghreb, Europe, Asia Minor, the Middle East, Russia to the Ural;
  • in France: very widespread and abundant;
  • in Luxembourg: enough common, especially in the Good Country.

Biological cycle

The cycle can comprise two Génération S or per annum. The egg S, laid separately on the plants hosts hatch at the end of ten days. For the caterpillars of first generation, the development until the stage nymphal is carried out in one month. Those of last generation can nymphoser either in autumn, or in spring, after Hibernation. The Chrysalide S remain suspended on the stems for one month for those which do not hibernate.
