Tiraspol
The municipality of Tiraspol is a municipality of the République of Moldavie and also the capital of the Moldavian area in the east of the river Dniestr Transnistrie, a République autoproclamée (not recognized internationally) in République of Moldavie. Moreover, Tiraspol is the third most populated city republic of Moldavie: 130.870 inhabitants in 1995. The city is located on the banks east of the river Dniestr.
Tiraspol is known to be one of the last cities practically not having changed since time when it belonged to old the Union of the Soviet socialist republics. Many statues dating from the communist era are still present in the dilapidated streets (in particular those of Lénine). The city preserved the character of the social housing (HLM) founded under the Soviet era. The population of the area transnistrienne of Moldavie and in particular of Tiraspol seems to have a standard of living appreciably higher than that of Moldavie itself.

In 2004 the city counted 159.163 inhabitants including 41,6% of Russian, 33% of Ukrainian and Moldavian 15,2% of . Among them to 54,6% women and 45,4% counted men.- 1926: 29.700 inhabitants

History
- the Middle Ages: Tiraspol is a buffer zone between the Tatars and the Moldavians.
- 1924 : Stalin creates the autonomous Soviet republic of Moldavie in Ukraine, with Balta like capital. The Rumanian is the official language, with a Latin Alphabet .
- 1929 : Tiraspol becomes the capital of the Soviet socialist Republic of Moldavie, until in 1940.
- 1941 : Tiraspol is occupied by the Nazis, it is managed by the Roumanians.
- 1944 : Tiraspol is released by the Russians. During the Soviet occupation of Romania, the area of Bessarabia is annexed by the République of Moldavie. At this point in time one period of denationalization of Rumanian starts, with a repression of the population of Rumanian origin and an immigration coming from Russia.
- Soviet Period: the industrialization of the republic of Moldavie is kept at least, except in Tiraspol.
- January 27th 1990: following a Referendum, Tiraspol is declared territory independent. The city close to Bendery declares also its independence.
- September 2nd 1990: After the République of Moldavie proclaims the Moldavian language official language, the territory in the east of the Dniestr ( Rumanian Nistru in ) declares its independence as a Transnistrie , with Tiraspol like capital. However, independence is not recognized internationally. The presence of Russian XIVe armed in garrison with Tiraspol prevents very begun again military of the city by the government of Chişinău.
Transport
It is possible to go to Tiraspol by the bus since Chişinău, Comrat (in Gagaouzie). Nevertheless, the zone of passage rather dangerous and is recommended little.
Industry
Tiraspol developed an industry centered on the electric racks and products.
