Tiran

The strait of Tiran (in Arab: مضيقتيران, in Hebrew: מצריטיראן) is composed of narrow bands of sea, on approximately 13 km broad, formed by the the Sinai (Egypt) with the west and the Arabic Péninsule (Saudi Arabia) in the East. It separates the Golfe from Aqaba of the Red Sea. It owes its name with the island of Tiran, located at its Southern entry, and on which the Multinational force and Observateurs have establishes a point of observation in order to guarantee the freedom of navigation of the strait.

In 1967, the Guerre the Six Day old sees Israel being opposed to the Syria and the Egypt following the blockade imposed by the colonel Nasser on this strait.

The point Chisholm is a course of the island of Tiran.
