The first tinplate manufacture in France is founded in 1665 with Beaumont-the-Tool bag in Gâtinais. Others settle in Franche-Comté, Alsace or Normandy. But they périclitent soon under the competition of the English and the Welsh who became Masters in the art of manufacture of the tinplate. The production of the tinplate remains the Apanage of the Great Britain which provides the totality of the French request until the last years of the 19th century.
