Tinamidae

Of the tinamidés (or Tinamidae ) is that of the tinamous , birds terrestrial dodus, of small size with average (from 15 to 50 cm), with short and strong legs and rudimentary tail.

One meets them in South America and Central America, where they live in the Forêt S, the Savane S and the Steppe S, of the sea level up to 5300 m of altitude.

This family is divided two S: tinaminés rhynchotinés, foresters and , of the steppes.

Systematic position

Traditionally classified with the Paléognathe S (order of the Tinamiforme S), the genetic analyzes hesitate to classify them either with the Ratite S or with the Galliforme S.
