Tina Modotti

Tina Modotti , born Assunta Adelaide Luiga Modotti (August 16th 1896, Udine, Italy - January 6th 1942, Mexico City) is a Italian Photographe.

Biography

Until 1908, it lives between the Austria and the Italy, before settling in Udine and entering a textile factory. It remained there until in 1913, and then left to San Francisco to work in a silk manufacture before becoming independent dressmaker.

In 1917, it marries the painter and American poet Roubaix Of Abrie Richey, which died in 1922.

She works for Hollywood Films and becomes Actrice towards 1920. One sees it in Tiger Lady .

In 1921, it studies the photograph with Edward Weston with Los Angeles and opens with him, of 1923 with 1930, a studio with Mexico City, where it bound friendship with Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo.

In 1924, it carries out its first exposure with Weston. Of 1927 with 1930, it collaborates in the drafting of several magazines. Having joined the Communist party in 1927, it was expelled of the Mexico 3 years later and is established with Berlin, where it continued its work of photographer while continuing his political activity.

Of 1931 with 1934, it lives with Moscow, where it puts in suspends its activity of photographer.

Of 1935 with 1938, after a passage by the France, it settles in Spain and works like deferring, while continuing its political activities.

In 1939, it sets out again with the Mexico and dies the January 6th 1942 with Mexico City.
