Timezrit (Ath-imel in Kabyle) is a commune of the Wilaya of Béjaïa in Algérie.

The inhabitants are called Ath-imel, descendants of the Immel ancestor. The commune is located at 40 km of the prefecture of Bgayet (Candle or Béjaia). Timezrit, mausoleum of holy, girl of Sidi Ayad, sister probably of Lala Tougit and Gouraya, (according to the popular beliefs, since it is known that Gouraya comes from " Gor" and " Aya" , which wants to say " city with the foot of the montagne" and Timezrit " guet". It cannot thus be really the girl of Sidi-Ayad, nor sister of someone else) draws up top of a mountain, belonging to the solid mass of the Bibans which rises with more than 500 meters of altitude. In bottom a valley sprinkled by the Soummam, a river crosses taking its source of the mountains of the Djurdjura and Bibans. Timezrit is a whole of villages strengthened the shortly after the Roman wars and later colonial, like all the rural communes, it is high with the row of sub-prefecture since last administrative cutting.

Known in the past for its iron mine, exploited since the Hammadides, during the colonial era, the mine of iron of Timezrit, with the foot of the Amsiwan village, in the area of Ath Imel, became the property of the Muller company and Compagnie of Rotterdam, then of Sonarem, its exploitation stopped to be reconverted in career (amochant), the landscape with the contrebas of El Qelâa.

At the origin of name, Timâamart (Koranic school) of with dimensions of Amsiwan. The villages of the current commune are: akabiou, Iderraken, amssiwan, Iaâchouran, Taourirt Aalwac, Djimaâ, Lekhmis, Ighil Amar, Ighil Outouaf, Ighil Guemour, Ighzer Lqebla, Tunef, Imezouagh, El kelaa, Taddart Moqran, Takhlicht, Abainou, Tasga and Louta.
