Timbalada

Timbalada is the name of a group of music Brazilian Negro originating in the district of Candeal, with Salvador de Bahia with the Brésil. Founded by the percussionnist Carlinhos Brown, the style of the group is a mixture of samba reggae and Axé, with strong influences of African Musique. The group is now very known in Brazil and in several Portuguese-speaking countries; he plays regularly closed counters a little everywhere in Brazil.

The group acquired its notoriety while taking part actively in the Carnaval each year in the streets of Salvador de Bahia. It is also invested in social actions while working with children in the need, by socially integrating them through a program of teaching and course of percussions.

Musicalement, Timbalada brought two innovations in the instrumentation of the music Brazilian Negro: the revival of the Timbal (a percussion with high and acute hand related with the Djembé) and the development of racks of three Surdo S (serious percussions) which can be played by only one musician. The timbal, which had almost disappeared before its massive re-use by Timbalada, since was largely spread and conquered of another sub-genera of the music Brazilian Negro, of which centered and the samba-reggae. The rack of surdos, also called bateria-with-surdo (battery of surdos) is now usually used by the groups playing on scene when they do not ravel. This type of assembly not making it possible to propose more than three surdos to the range of the arms of the musician, the arrangements of surdos traditionally based in samba reggae on four sonorities is often rewritten for only three surdos.
