Timothy Peter Johnson (born in 1946) is a American Politician , senator democratic of the South Dakota to the Congrès of the United States since 1997.

Biography

Tim Johnson was born the December 28th 1946 in Canton, South Dakota.

Graduate of the universities of South Dakota and the Michigan, Johnson has a political long career behind him.

He is of 1979 with 1982 appointed with the Room of the representatives of South Dakota then senator of the State of South Dakota of 1983 with 1986.

Of 1987 with 1997, he is the elected official of South Dakota to the Chambre of the representatives of the United States.

In 1996, he becomes senator of South Dakota to the Congress of the United States. He is re-elected in 2002 of extreme accuracy with 0,15% of additional voice vis-a-vis the republican deputy John Thune which had succeeded to him the Room of the representatives in 1996.

Considered like one of the democratic elected officials most preserving of the Congress, in favor of the Capital punishment, he also voted for the massive falls of taxes proposed by the president George W. Bush in 2001 and for the confirmation of the judge Samuel Alito with the Supreme court of the United States. He voted however against the deregulation and competition of the sector of the télécoms (Telecom Act off 1996).

His/her oldest son, Brooks, are a military career in the American army. Tim Johnson also has two other children.

Since January 2005, Johnson and John Thune are the two senators of South Dakota to the federal Congress.
