Tiger Army is a trio of Psychobilly original because sometimes wrongfully romantic (the words can evoke Poe, Shelley or Lovecraft…). The singer and Nick guitarist 13 writing texts.
Ils is on the label Hellcat Records of Tim Armstrong (which appears on Moonlite Dreams) and some of the members of AFI played for Tiger Army, or with Nick 13 during former formations (Davey Havok of AFI also appears on Moonlite Dreams). This group has as a characteristic to have romantic words (what is rare for a group of psycho) which can appear obsolete at our time which would not allow the romanticism, it is all that makes its shift, and thus its membership the movement. The single voice of the singer (nothing to see with the other Californian singers) and his music impressed of country makes that Tiger Army will remain a timeless group.
For the second album, the line-up changed, and only Nick 13 remains part. All the attractions having made the fame of the psycho are joined together here, namely a powerful double bass, a rhythmic rapid, a guitar between punk aggressive and rockabilly disillusioned, but more especially this so typical song (pointing out Morrissey sometimes), coming directly from the 50' S, trailing however an unquestionable rage in its furrow. The 13 titles of this album are époustouflants, and each one of them is a tube potential, ready to make quiver the dancefloor punk evenings/psycho/horror. The voice of Nick 13, unquestionably the asset of the group, is done in turn aggressive (frantic “Towards Destiny” and its pushes), then in turn soft and enivrante (how not to quiver with the listening of the lyrical flights of “Cupid' S Victim”). And yes, Tiger Army with the advantage (compared to the other psycho groups) of having a true singer, controlling his voice in its least details. But what makes also the force of the group is diversity, bus of the punk-rock'n'roll of “Incorporeal” to the rockabilly of “Cupid' S Victim”, while passing by the guitars death-rock'n'roll of “Under Saturn' S Shadow”, nothing here comes to annoy the listener, who remains attentive until the last note of the album. Obviously, a master stroke.
Moreover The Loop is an excellent taken again song of Morrissey which is not reproduced on any album of Tiger Army. To note the LunaTone song who will be reproduced on the 4th album. The only means of listening to it at present is the video pirate one of youtube.
The old beater of Tiger Army, Fred Hell was caught four balls while being made burglarize.
One can see on MySpace of the group a big number of fans having the logo Tiger Army tattooed at various places.
