Tiaret

Tiaret of the Berbère Tihert (“the lioness”) is a city and wilaya of Algérie. Tiaret was also known under other names: Tahert, Taqdempt, Taoughzout, Tingartia.

Tiaret was the capital of the Rostomides. In 761, Abderrahmane Ibn Roustom, a religious leader Kharidjite, of origin Persian, leaves Kairouan and founds Tihert, which will become thereafter the capital of the most important kingdom of the Maghreb.

Tagdempt, this other capital of state, of If El Hadj Abdelkader Ben Mahiéddine the Emir (Emir Abdelkader, was the capital military, political, economic and cultural during seven years of 1835 to 1841. Six centuries afterwards, Taoughzout (Tiaret) remembers Ibn Khaldoun. Today, Tiaret represents the tank of the Oranie in term of agricultural production.
