A ton is large and broad a barrel.

The term indicates in particular a cylindrical, often metal tank, assembled on a frame of trailer, and being used to transport water, Purin, Lisier.

By analogy of form, a ton indicates a cylindrical gross Bouée, out of wood or metal, being used with indication or the mooring ( ton of mooring ).
