Throwing the javelin
The throwing the javelin is a sport of Athlétisme where the launched object is a Javelot made metal either in Glass fiber or in Carbon fiber. This test is not always present at the athletics meetings in particular because of the safety regulations.
Competitions and throws
The rules of the throw of javelin are equivalent to the other types of throws (disc, hammer or weight). The candidates are entitled all to six tests. In the competitions giving right a title, or a premium requiring a classification, the launchers of javelin are entitled to three tests, then eight the best at the conclusion of these three throws has the possibility of launching three additional tests, the winner is that which will have sent further possible the javelin, outdistances measured except for the centimetre. The point of the javelin must touch in first the ground at the time of the impact so that the test is validated. Contrary to the throw of disc, hammer and weight (for the followers of the throw in rotation), the launcher of javelin carries out a rectilinear race of dash before the throw, race carried out in two times on the same surface used as for the race (tartan). Initially known as of dash, the athlete carries out a traditional race vis-a-vis the surface of launching, the javelin placed on the side. In the second time, in the phase known as of preparation, the launcher places profile and moves in step crossed in front of, the javelin placed at the temple and the arm launcher armed behind the head. In the ultimate phase of the race of dash, the arm launcher is put in tension by elasticity on the ultimate double support of the race of dash. The race is thus arrètée violently, transmitting all the rate of travel in the shoulder which slackens as a catapult propelling the javelin.
Characteristic of the javelin
In 1986, the javelin of the men which weighed 800 grams was redrawn because of the increasingly long distances, whose culminating point was the 104,80 meters of the East-German Uwe Hohn, by consequence and this for the safety of the public, the javelin was modified and one moved the center of gravity of the object so that it can obligatorily fall down on the point and made it possible to reduce the distances from approximately 10%. In 1999, the javelin of the women undergoes the same modification.
The javelin with the Olympic Games
The throw of javelin took share to the Olympic Games starting from 1908. Although the javelin is nowadays used only in the sport, there exists a long story of its use for hunting and the war, thus of many references are related to old the Greek civilization which practiced of its time also a form to launch javelin in the ancient Olympic Games, the objective at the time was rather to reach a target.
