Throne of the chrysanthemum
The throne of the chrysanthemum is the name usually given to the imperial throne of the Japan, owing to the fact that the my or heraldic badge of the Chrysanthème ( kiku ) to sixteen petals ( kikukamonshō or kikkamonshō 菊花紋章), used by the emperors since the Period Kamakura, became them distinguished official in 1869 at the time of the Restauration Meiji.
According to certain legends, the throne of the Chrysanthemum is the oldest monarchical dynasty of planet. In the Nihonshoki it is known as that the empire of Japan was founded in 660 before JC by the Empereur Jimmu. According to the tradition, the Empereur Akihito is the direct downward 125ème of Jimmu. The historical data go back to the Empereur Ōjin which is presented to have reigned at the beginning of the 5th century. In spite of the fact that there was before eight " Empereurs" women (carrying a title different from the empresses consortes), a law promulgated at the end of the 19th century by the imperial Agency and the Council of State prohibited to the women the accession with the throne.
