Throat microphone
A throat microphone is a Microphone conceived to be placed on the throat of an individual, strapped around his Cou and in contact with its Peau, in order to collect the Vibration S of sound Larynx and its vocal cords, and thus to restore its Parole S.
It is a particular type of Microphone of contact, and in that he is opposed to the microphone traditional Acoustique, which restores the its by collecting the variations of the Pression of the Air.
Uses
He is used:
- in very noisy environments where the communication would be pertubée with an acoustic microphone (on a building site, with motor bike, in a Hélicoptère, on a field of Bataille),
- or to allow the speaker to remain furtive while speaking with a level lower than with an acoustic microphone.
Description
It can be connected to a broadcasting transmitter (Talkie-walkie) or to a Mobile phone, possibly in Bluetooth. Its release can be done automatically (while reacting to the voice), or manually (by pressure on a key).
It is generally coupled with a auricle.
Limits
The throat microphone makes certainly it possible to effectively increase the Rapport signal on noise, but it in addition eliminates highest Fréquence S from the signal, and certain experiments undertaken by the American Armée proved that could harm the intelligibility of the speech more that the parasites generated by the use of an acoustic microphone.
