Thriller (album)

Thriller (1982) is an album of the singer Michael Jackson, produced by Quincy Jones. It is also the title of a track of the album.

The song Thriller , signed by Rod Temperton, gave place to a very long video clip, produced by John Landis.

Thriller remains always the album more sold of all times with nearly 106 million copies. For the first time in the history of the music, 7 songs out of 9 leave in 45 turns (simple). The Thriller album will remain 37 weeks (not-consecutive) at the top of Signal 200 album of the United States. No album to date beat this record. True phenomenon, Thriller marked well beyond the years 1980 and remains a source of inspiration and admiration for many artists.

The album profits from the reinforcement of famous musicians rock'n'roll on several titles: Eddie Van Halen plays a solo of guitar on Beat It , while members of the group Toto are implied in Baby Be Undermines , The Girl Is Mine , Beat It , Human Nature and The Lady in My Life . The song The Girl is Mine is a duet with Paul McCartney.

The recording and the mixing were carried out by Bruce Swedien, already person in charge of the sound of Off the Wall and Give Me The Night, except for the solo of Eddie Van Halen recorded by Donn landee.

Certifications

The official figure of the sales of Thriller is subjected to controversy. In 1997, the RIAA and Guiness Book of the Records certify Thriller like being sold to 54 million specimens. In June 2003, the figures give a report on approximately 60 million (including the sales of the republication of the album in 2001). In November 2006, Michael Jackson sees himself giving to London an official certificate of the RIAA and Guiness Book of the Records certifying 104 million sold specimens (54 million in the United States, 50 million in the rest of the world). It is difficult to explain why the sales of Thriller suddenly were very strongly re-examined with the rise.
