Three Agreements

the Three Agreements is a Groupe of music rock'n'roll Québécois.

Formation of the group and career

Formed in 1997 by Olivier Benoit and Simon Proulx, the group currently counts five members, all originating in Drummondville and its area (Saint-Cyrille-with-Wendover and Wickham):

Beginnings of the Three agreements: demonstrations and Large Mammoth Album

In 2004, the album Gros Mammoth Album Turbo is launched. It contains, inter alia, a version slightly modified of their strolls with success with the accents country-western Saskatchewan as well as the song Far from here . The production of the album was supported this time by Indica. In June 2005, the song Hawaïenne - which made known them in the whole of the Quebec - leaves in individual in France.

The success of this first album exceeded considerably waitings of the group which did not plan at the beginning to make career in the Musique. Several of the members then continued academic works, which they gave up thereafter. Musical style of the Three Agreements and great champion

Far from the Logical , Rationality and Political Engagement , the words of the Three Agreements are dissociated in the current musical field of the Quebec by proposing a new musical experiment since the first Québécois punk formations of the years 1990 (like Red Banlieue, BARF, Krostons, Unknownes, etc)

Musicalement, the Three Agreements can be classified in the line of the formations Punk French are like Bérurier Noir, Parabellum, the Corpses or Wampas (all known in Quebec), but with a more Californian sound, more " pop-core". One could more compare them with Ludwig von 88 by their side Absurde and the attitude of detachment which they post, for example, in the interviews which they give (in particular with the Québécois edition of Everyone speaks about it with Radio-Canada, Vacarm or with Bon kisses of France and on MusiquePlus).

Reception in France?

Perhaps this new departure will make it possible the group to try an opening in France which, until now, does not seem to have welcomed their Musique. One will abundantly find derision and sarcastic remarks at the Three Agreements, but they do not aim the denunciation and they are not dependant standpoint of Extreme-left.

It will be also noticed that the words of the Three Agreements are very strongly impregnated Contexte Québécois (and Canadian in general) and that they abound in local expressions, which can pose problem with their reception abroad.
