Three-masted ship
A three-masted ship is a Sailing ship comprising three Mât S. It acts of the Gréement running for the ships before the arrival of the propulsion to the vapor.
The mast of bowsprit is not entered. The three masts are Proue with the poop of the ship:
- the Foremast
- the mainmast
- the Mizzenmast
According to the type of veils used, one distinguishes:
- the square Three-masted ship S, gréés entirely in square sails,
- the Barque S, whose mizzenmast is gréé with a Fore-and-aft sail.
- the Three-masted ship goélette S, whose mainmast and mizzenmast are gréés in fore-and-aft sails.
- the goélettes with three masts, of which all the masts are gréés in fore-and-aft sails.
