Thothori Nyantsen

Lha Thothori Nyantsen (also written Lha Tho tho laughed Nyentsen or lHa-tho-tho-laughed gNyan-btsan ) is the 28e King of the Tibet according to the legendary tradition Tibetan. The syllable Lha (predicts, referring to the gods sky) is an honorary title and not part of its name. It belongs to the Dynastie of Yarlung related to the valley of Yarlung in the south of Tibet. The modern specialists think that he was an historic leader because he is also mentioned in a Chinese source. They locate its reign at the 5th century, because the 33e king Songtsen Gampo died into 650; other calculations estimating its birth at 173 or 254 are rejected nowadays. It did not reign on the whole of Tibet; its capacity was probably limited to the area of the valley of Yarlung.

According to a legend Tibetan, writings Buddhist S, whose Karandavyuha Sutra , arrived for the first time at Tibet of its time in a miraculous way: volumes fell from the sky on the roof of the royal palace. There could be in the beginning a historical reality, the arrival of Buddhist missionaries. In any case, this first contact of the Tibetans with Buddhism cannot have been more than one incident without durable impact.
