Thorne (Quebec)

Thorne is a Municipalité Quebec, located in the regional Municipalité of county of Pontiac and in the administrative area of the Outaouais.

The municipality is in particular sprinkled by the lakes Sparling, Johnson, Barnes and Thorne. The River Quyon the cross-piece of north in the south before throwing itself in the River of Outaouais by circumventing hills of which highest reach the 300 Mr.

The principal hamlets are Schwartz, Thornby, Greer Mount, Thorne Center and Hodgins as well as the village of Ladysmith. The municipality has an important population of German origin.

The name of this geographical territory is borrowed from a locality of England located at the south-east of Leeds. At the time of the proclamation of the canton in 1861, fourteen individuals only were French-speaking on a population of 450 people.
