Thorens-Glières
Thorens-Glières is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Savoie and the area the Rhone-Alps.
Le September 18th, 1869, the commune increases section of Jourdil, taken with Aviernoz. July 25th, 1870 it loses that of Glières, which is attached to the Small-Bornand .
Geography
Thorens-Glières is located at 19 kilometers in the North-East of Annecy. Commune of Piedmont, Thorens keeps the high valley of the Fillière. More half of its territory is consisted the mountain of Under-Dines (1863 m), the mountain of Frêtes (1651 m), the Parmelan (1676 m).
History
It seems that there was here a Gallo-Roman villa. Its name comes from the time Burgonde. At the 11th century, Odon de Compey is lords of the places. In 1242, the Savoyard soldiers devastate Thorens. The family of Dirty buy, for 6000 pounds, the seigniory in 1602.
