In the Greek Mythology, Thoosa is a phorcyde, girl of Phorcys and Céto, sister of the Gorgones. She is known to have generated with Poséidon the Cyclops Polyphème.

Thoosa is still the name of the one of these psychological divinities, that Empédocle known as to govern our destinies, left geniuses or rather fairies which seem to hold their names of our qualities and our defects.
