Thonon-the-Baths is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Savoie ( Savouè d' Amont / Hiôta-Savouè ) and the area the Rhone-Alps ( Rôno-Arpes ).

A middle-class is attested as of the middle of the 13th century and the village (a few hundreds of fires) east girds walls towards the end of the century, including the Bank suburb towards 1290. Stake of the fights between the counts de Savoie and the dolphins of Viennese until in 1343, Thonon becomes then one of the favorite residences of the house of Savoy and attracts many local immigrants or foreigners (Italian, German…). The castle, initially fortress and prison, is shaved and, rebuilt towards 1410, becomes a residence of approval including/understanding of beautiful gardens and the luxurious home, more comfortable than the simple hunting lodge of Feast; one gives to it great festivals which marked the spirits as well as the term of " ripaille" became synonymous in the French language with successful festivals.
Several dignitaries of the court of Savoy are made build around the castle of the private mansions (Ravais family), hotel trade and the trade develops. In 1433, the duke Amédée VIII acquires and parcels out the vine of Small valley, adjacent with the walls of the city, and of which " chaseaux" (pieces to be built) are acquired by the principal families of the local middle-class (current Vallon district). It also supports the restoration of the utility services: mills, furnaces, market, water conveyance. Thonon remains town of court until the end of the 15th century, in spite of the presence more and more prégnante of a popular dispute attested by the Hérésie or the Sorcellerie, cruelly continued starting from 1475, and by the emigration towards Geneva.
In XIVe and XVe centuries, the châtellenie of Allinges-Thonon traditionally forms part of the douaire of the countess, then duchess of Savoy. Three of them particularly associated their name with the area, Bonne of Bourbon, wife of Amédée VI of Savoy, Marie of Burgundy, wife of Amédée VIII of Savoy, and Anne de Lusignan, wife of Louis Ier of Savoy.
Of 1536 with 1569, with the Treated of Thonon, the city belonged to the Valais.
Thonon-the-baths was the sub-prefecture of the district of Thonon in old the Département of Léman.
Thonon is placed at the first rank of the flowered cities holding four flowers with the national classification.

the Château of Feast is a castle of pleasure of the 15th century located in a splendid field in edge of Léman. In this castle, the duke of Savoy Amédée VIII accommodated the pope Eugene IV towards 1440. Shortly after this visit, the duke of Savoy became pope under the name of Felix V, although its election was not recognized by the majority of the Catholic church. Its Miter supposed is preserved in the Trésor of the Abbaye of Saint-Maurice d' Agaune the field preserves a forest of 53 hectares, a Arboretum composed of 58 different gasolines and a wine field, profiting from a AOC " Castle of Ripaille".
the Saint-Hippolyte church, originally of the 12th century, is built above a Romance Crypte. It was altered at the 17th century in the style Savoyard baroque and its decorations and its frescos are exuberant.
