Thomas de Treil de Pardailhan

Thomas-François de Treil de Pardailhan (Paris, 1754, Pardailhan, August 2nd 1822) is the elder one of a Languedocien family anoblie, originating in the area of Saint-Pons-with-Thomières.

As of its more young age he undertakes a military career: thus it is received at age the ten years gendarme of the guard of the king , then Mousquetaire , and finally sign of the Swiss guards of Mister brother of the king , with rank of lieutenant-colonel. After its marriage in 1782 with Charlotte Gautier de Vinfrais, he becomes lord of Pardailhan (Herault) and takes the title of baron de Pardailhan . In 1785, it approaches the king Louis XVI with Versailles by occupying the primarily honorary office of to advise main hotel of the king . As of the first events of 1789 Thomas-François engages with passion in the political life; he is deputy in March 1789 by the representatives gathered of the three orders of Saint-Pons, to support the project of a constitution.

In 1790, it is Electeur of the canton of Villejuif , in 1791, administrator of the department of Paris (general adviser). In September 1791, he is elected appointed department of Paris ; he makes known himself by private bills concerning the organization of the armies, (particularly a proposal carrying death sentence of the emigrated officers).

He is known to have proposed with the legislative Assemblée the creation of a military decoration, considered as the precedent of the Légion of honor. Treil-Pardailhan is member of the diplomatic committee, implied in the release of the war against the European powers.

In 1794, during the Terror, he is imprisoned as moderated with the Saint-Lazare prison in Paris; he escapes from little from the Guillotine. Under the Directory, it founds a company in charge of the provisioning of the armies of the Republic.

In 1800, ruined, it adopts the mode of Bonaparte. Continued by its creditors, it is exiled in 1806 in Milan in Italy, from where it learns its expropriation from the field of Pardailhan, by his/her own Alexandre brother.

Returned to France, it settles definitively with the castle of Pardailhan, repurchased by his Charlotte wife.

With the Restauration in 1815 it is named mayor of the commune of Pardailhan. It is deceased on August 2nd, 1822 with the castle of Pardailhan. The commune of Pardailhan preserves the tomb of the Treil-Pardailhan deputy, unfortunately with the abandonment.
