Thomas de Brotherton , count de Norfolk, born on June 1st 1300, dead the August 4th 1338 was wire of Edouard I {{er}}, king d' Angleterre and of Marguerite off France. He was baptized in the honor of the apostle Saint Thomas.
His/her father died whereas it was only seven years old and his/her half-brother Edouard II became king d' Angleterre. He was then planned for Thomas the title of Count de Cornouailles, but Edouard II granted it in 1306 to his favorite Piers Gaveston. When Thomas reaches the 10 years age, Edouard II assigned with his brother Edmond and him the grounds of Roger III Bigod, count de Norfolk, who had died without heir in 1306.
In 1312, it accepted the title of Count de Norfolk and was made marshal of England the February 10th 1316. When his/her brother left to fight in Scotland, it accepted the guard of the kingdom. It is known to have a violent temperament. It was one of the many victims of the avarice of Hugues Despenser, which seized part of the grounds of the young count. It was combined with the queen Isabelle de France and with Roger Mortimer when they invaded England in 1326, and was one of the judges who condemned Despenser.
He married in first weddings, probably in 1319, Alice Hayles, girl of Sir Roger Hayles and Alice Skogan. His first wife passed to be of a great beauty. His/her father was coroner of Norfolk, a title which has a different significance with that nowadays; it consisted to perceive and protect the taxes from the king. Thomas and Alice one have three children:
Alice Hayles died in 1330, and a foundation was created for the safety of its heart with Bosham, in the Sussex. Thomas remaria before the March 28th 1335 with Mary Brewes, widow of Ralph, Lord de Cobham. He died in september 1338, and was buried in the abbey of Bury St Edmunds.
Thomas was also ancestor of two of the six women of Henri VIII, Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard.
