Thomas Voeckler

Thomas Voeckler (June 22nd 1979 with Schiltigheim) is a runner cyclist French.

Biography

  • Originating in Alsace, born on June 22nd, 1979 with Schiltigheim, outskirts of the city of Strasbourg. All the family of Thomas Voeckler is originating in Alsace. His/her father was psychiatrist and his mother doctor-anesthetist. His/her father had a great passion: navigation. It is besides, to appease its passion, that the small family had decided to live in Martinique. Mister and Mrs Voeckler for that had been made transfer professionally in the island of their dreams. When Thomas was 7 years old, his/her parents settled with the Martinique with Tartane where they bought a house. In Martinique, Mr Voeckler had bought superb boats, sailing ships from 10 to 15 meters length and it took part in maritime races. Mister and Mrs Voeckler with Thomas, child, made three crossings of the Atlantic Ocean. Thomas Voeckler discovered cycling in Martinique. Little before the birthday Thomas for his 13 years, Mr Voeckler had gone to France, in Strasbourg to buy to him like gift a very beautiful purple bicycle of the Giant mark. The day of his birthday, Thomas was very happy to discover this very beautiful bicycle and there, it was going finally to be able to make competition in cycling. But this autumn 1992, at October, a great misfortune arrived: Mr. Voeckler had left with his boat for a crossing and it disappeared at sea.
