Its life
Murner enters in 1490 the order of the Franciscains and is ordered priest into 1497 whole while carrying out from 1495 of the studies to Freiburg-in-Brisgau, Paris, Cracow, Prague, Strasbourg and Basle. In 1506 he becomes Doctor of Divinity, in 1519 doctor in Droit, it is also the year when he translates for the first time into German the " Institutions" of the Roman law.In 1513 it becomes Guardian of the order franciscain in Strasbourg, in 1523 it answers the invitation of Henri VIII and remains in England. In front of progress of the Reform and the country revolts in Alsace, it must leave Strasbourg in 1525 to become priest and Prédicateur with Lucerne in 1526. He becomes the most virulent spokesperson of the catholics and also concentrates on his person hatreds of his adversaries which reproach him its origin Souabe and its positions in the Dispute of Bern (bearing on the reality of the presence of the Christ in the Eucharistie), must he flee Lucerne at the time of the first truce of the Wars of religion Suisse S, he returns in his birthplace d´Oberehnheim where he carries on his activity of priest starting from 1533.
Being inspired in its satirical works by works by the preacher of Strasbourg Johann Geiler von Kaysersberg and by Sebastien Brant, Murner is caught some on a particularly corrosive tone with the " folies" and with the tares of the company of its time like to the Reform, in particular in Martin Luther. Its " Conspiracy of insane the " (Narrenbeschwörung) and its " Corporation of the rascals " (Schelmenzunft) fall under the continuity of the " Nave with insane the " of Brant, going until taking again the illustrations of them, but it is also distinguished as translator from Virgile ( l'" Enéide" ) and as author of theological and didactic works that it writes in Latin and in German. Observations as many insane cannot extinguish any more the fire which it lit itself! or as soon as a hen laid an egg, the lord takes of it the yellow, its noble lady the white, with the peasant remains only the shell! did not lose of their topicality.
