Thomas Mayo Brewer

Thomas Mayo Brewer is a American Naturaliste , born the November 21st 1814 with Boston and dead the January 24th 1880.

It makes studies with the Harvard College until in 1835 and spends the three following years to the medical school.

It gives up its career of doctor after only a few years to devote itself to the writing and the policy. Later, he becomes the editor of the Boston Atlas . He joined then the publisher Swan & Tileston, renamed Brewer & Tileston in 1857 when he becomes associated.

He is especially famous to have cosigné has off History North American Birds (3 volumes, 1874) with Spencer Fullerton Baird (1823-1887) and Robert Ridgway (1850-1929). He is also the author of a work on eggs of North America, North American Oology (1857).

He is opposed to the destruction House sparrow ( Passer domesticus ) which had just been introduced with the the United States of America. He is the author of a biography of John James Audubon (1785-1851) to which he dedicates a great admiration, the only daughter of Brewer fore-mentioned Lucy, first name of the woman of Audubon.
