Himiko (卑弥呼) is a Japanese queen who reigned of 188 (supposed date) until in 248 on the area of Yamatai. Yamatai either would be located in the province of Yamato, or in the north of Kyushu.

We know Himiko only by the Chroniques of the three kingdoms , a Chinese document (the “Gishiwajinden”). According to this text, Himiko would be a priestess who could control the spirits of people thanks to her supernatural capacities. According to the Nihonshoki, Himiko could be the empress Jingū, the mother of the emperor Ojin, but the historians do not accept this assumption. Many people affirm, that Himiko would be in fact Amaterasu.

According to the Chinese chronicles, his/her young brother would help it for the political matters;

We do not know the precise pronunciation of its name (Himiko, Pimiko, or other).
