Thomas Littleton Powys
Thomas Littleton Powys (March 18th 1833 - June 17th 1896), 4th baron Lilford, was a Aristocrate and Ornithologue English.
He was one of the eight founders of the British Ornithologists' Union in 1858 and his president of 1867 to his death. He was also the first president of the Northamptonshire Natural History Society.
He travelled much, particularly in the area the Mediterranean and its large collection of birds was maintained in the basement of its house, Lilford Hall, until in 1991. Its birdcages comprised Oiseau X of all the countries, included/understood there Nandou S, kiwis, ducks with pink head and even a bearded couple of gypaètes. It was responsible for the introduction of the Chouette chevêche in England into the Années 1880.
He also wrote on the birds, of which the Notes on the birds of Northamptonshire and its surroundings ( Notes one the Birds off Northamptonshire and Neighborhood ) in 1895 and the Dessins color of the birds of British Isles ( Coloured Figures off the Birds off the British Islands ) supplemented by Osbert Salvin (1835-1898) after its death.
