honourable the Thomas Greenway (born the March 25th 1838 and deceased the October 30th 1908) was a politician, merchant and farm Canadian. It was Prime Minister of Manitoba of 1888 with 1900. Sitting under the banner of the Liberal party of Manitoba, its mandate puts officially fine at the system of government not-partisan of the Manitoba, though a system bipartisan de facto had been in existence during several years already.
The March 31st 1890, under the pressure of the population with anglophone majority, it refuses to subsidize the Catholic schools which would not be subjected to the program of the Department of the State education (optional and reduced religious teaching). The Question of the schools of Manitoba will poison the political life of the Confederation until the elections of 1896.
