Thomas George Bonney (July 27th 1833 - December 10th 1923) is a British geologist .

Bonney is born with Rugeley in the Staffordshire, oldest son of the reverend Thomas Bonney. He studies with Uppingham School then with St John' S College or he is graduate in 1856, he is ordered the following year.

Of 1856 with 1861 he is professor of Mathématiques to Westminster School. It makes Géologie only over its spare time mainly in the alpine areas . In 1868 it is engaged as director of studies with St John' S College and gives readings in geology. It is devoted more especially to the Roche S igneous and metamorphic in the the Alps and in England (for example the Lizard in Cornouailles, with Salcombe and in the forest of Charnwood), with the Wales and in the Highlands.

Of 1877 with 1901 he is professor of Géologie to University College, of 1884 with 1866 president of the Geological Society off London which decrees the to him Médaille Wollaston in 1889, secretary of the British Association of 1881 with 1885, president of the Mineralogical Society . In 1887 it becomes Chanoine of Manchester. Bonney became member of the Royal Society the June 6th 1878.

He is the author of one of the first illustrated descriptions of the Alps of the Dauphiné (Massif of the Jewel cases):
