Thomas Bohier (born with Issoire, in Auvergne, towards 1470 and dead the March 24th 1524 with the camp of Vigelli, in the Milanese in Italy) occupied of the political offices at the end of 15th and the beginning of 16th. As from 1513, it makes build the Château of Chenonceau. His wife Katherine Briçonnet will supervise construction.

It is the third wire of Austremoine Bohier, member of an old middle-class family of Auvergne, and Béraude. He dies in 1524, during a forwarding in Italy. Its body is brought back in Touraine and is buried in the Saint-Saturnin church with Tours. Its wife joined there two years later.

Career

It is with the service of Louis XI, Charles VIII and Louis XII, and finally of François Ier. Notary, Master of the accounts with Paris, named in 1491 secretary of the king Charles VIII, he is secretary of finances with Grenoble in 1494, then general of finances of Normandy in 1497. He is also elected in 1497 mayor of Turns. Crowning of its career, it is lieutenant-general of the king and general treasurer of the wars in Italy, where it dies on March 24th, 1524.

Chenonceau

Bohier coveted the field of Chenonceau for some time and supervised the ruin of the Marques family.

He makes buy in writing pads by Jacques of Beaune, several dependences of Chenonceau and various revenues made up on this ground in order to force Pierre Marques, by requiring the regularity of the payments, to sell one day his field principal.

Jacques of Beaune buys then:

  • December 10th, 1494, Houdes and 20 books of revenue of Jean de Hodon (wire of Adam) for 821 ecus of gold, 18 grounds and 9 sums of money.

April 27th, 1496, Jacques of Beaune makes a statement of command and uncovers Thomas Bohier who takes at once possession of Houdes and built a castle.

Bohier requires the payment of the revenues (352 pounds and 1 wheat muid). Pierre Marques was unable himself to pay must sell.

In 1506, the seigniory of Chenonceau is seized and allocated to Aymar de Prie. Nonglad not to have been able to acquire this field, Thomas Bohier asks the Parliament to break this decision.

In 1506, the seigniory of Coulommiers is seized on Damoiselle Claire de Clermont and is allocated to Bohier for 1  450 pounds

In 1507, Bohier buys the stronghold of Juchepie (320 pounds) with Francueil.

In 1510, it acquires the vast stronghold of Argy (1  311 pounds and 10 grounds) which extends on Civray, the Cross, Bléré, Francueil, Luzillé, Saint-Georges, Chissay, Chisseaux and Chenonceaux.

In 1512, the ground of Chenonceau is again seized and handing-over with the biddings. It is allocated to Thomas Bohier for 15  641 pounds. Aymar de Prie had advanced 18  000 pounds but desisted at the last time perhaps against an financial equalization on behalf of Bohier.

In February 1514, the seven strongholds bought by Bohier are joined together in châtellenie by letters patent of Louis XII. This new statute gives feudal obligations as well as the annual payment of a revenue of 25 pounds. To satisfy this obligation, Bohier buys with the bishop Meaux a revenue of 26 pounds which it perceives on the recepte Chinon.

In 1515, it buys in the borough of Chenonceaux, two houses which it makes demolish in order to build there the palate or audience of the châtellenie and a market to hold the fairs and markets to with it.

The same year, it buys canons of Loches for 100 pounds the small stronghold of Coulommiers (also called stronghold of the chapter, because of its origin), and of Jacques Bérard, lord of Chissé, the strongholds of Demolish, Thoré, of Large and Small Gasts, with the rights of vat and passage to the Olivier port, for 2  500 ecus of gold. 1517, the rider Jean Hat, lord of Scephoux sell to him the stronghold of Vrigny for 280 pounds located on the parish of Saint-Georges.
