Thomas “Thom” Edward Yorke , musician British, was born the October 7th 1968 in Wellingborough in the Northamptonshire. He is the singer and leader of the group Radiohead. He lives with Oxford.

Biography

Born with the eyelid from its left eye paralyzed, sudden Thom of many operations during its first five years. His/her classmates call it “the salamander”.

The Guitariste Brian May of the group Queen gives him the desire for being a musician. It begins the guitar at seven years and joined its first group at the eleven years age whereas it attends a private school for boys with Abingdon, where it will meet the future members of the group Radiohead. In 1987 it met ED O' Brien and Colin Greenwood. The group, named One has Friday because Friday was for them the only day of possible repetition, is then supplemented by the Batteur Phil Selway, accompanied by the younger brother by Hake, Jonny Greenwood.

Thom integrates then the university of Exeter. The members continue to repeat whereas they are dispersed in different universities. At that time, Yorke plays in the group Headless Chickens and works in a psychiatric hospital. It meets in Exeter Stanley Donwood which will collaborate with Radiohead thereafter.

In 1991, the group is found with Oxford and takes the name of Radiohead according to the name of a song of the Talking Heads after having signed on EMI.

Thom Yorke is the principal type-setter of the group and ensures the Chant, the Piano and the Guitare.

After the business success of individual the Creep , Radiohead became with several complex and ambitious albums, one of the most respected groups scene rock'n'roll. Thom Yorke collaborates in the small pockets of the group under the Tchock pseudonym.

Thom Yorke is very friendly with Michael Stipe (R.E.M.) which helped it for one period of depression between the exit of OK Computer and Kid has .

The words which he writes for Radiohead are often rather obscure and became politically more committed starting from the album Hail To The Thief .

Career solo

With surprised of all, while the group Radiohead starts a round, Thom Yorke announces the exit of an album which he “wrote and interpreted”, even if he denies the qualifier of album solo and reassures the fans by affirming that this test does not announce of anything the end Radiohead. The disc, heading The Eraser left the July 11th 2006, and was produced and arranged by Nigel Godrich, producing history of the group (which finally will produce the next album of Radiohead).

Other work

Yorke engaged for the Equitable trade, Amnesty International, NDT and for the Amis of the Earth. He played for the Tibet in 1999.

He took part in artistic projects with dimensions artists like PJ Harvey, Björk or Beck.

He sings on the title Rabbit in Your Headlights (Psyence Fiction, 1998) with DJ Shadow for the group U.N.K.L.E of James Lavelle. He also sings in duet with Björk on I' ve Seen It All on Selmasongs , the original soundtrack of the film Dancer in the Dark . In 2007 He collaborates with Modeselektor and Happy birthday sings on the title The white flash on the album .

It formed the group The Venus in Furs with the member from Radiohead Jonny Greenwood like Bernard Butler, Andy Mackay and Paul Kimble. They recorded five titles for the film Velvet Goldmine of Todd Haynes.

He collaborated with Sparklehorse on a resumption of Wish You Were Here of the Pink Floyd for which he recorded his part on the telephone whereas he was in a hotel.

If not beside its life of rockor, it manufactures with a very detailed attention and at purposes personal (and noncommercial), sausage in mass, for his partner, her child, Michael Stipe and Jonny Greenwood its principal consumer.
