Thiruvananthapuram തിരുവനതപുരം (known in the past under the name of Trivandrum ) is the capital of the state of the Kerala in India. It counts 826.225 inhabitants. Its name means: “the city of the god Ananthan”, Tiru being the local form of the laughed Sanskrit ( srî ), and - v being used it to avoid the Hiatus.
It was the capital of the state of Travancore of 1745 with 1949.
